Police dogs get new shoes

Police dogs in Düsseldorf, Germany will no longer get their feet dirty – the entire dog unit will be equipped with blue plastic fiber shoes. The unusual footwear is not a fashion statement, but rather a necessity due to the high rate of paw injuries. Currently in the city’s historical old town, famous for both its pubs and drunken revelers, the police dogs often step on broken beer bottles which get caught in the paws of the pups. The cities cleaning unites are not able to clean the streets up entirely due to the cobble stone paths.
